Patterson Hornworks is a leader in the Custom Horn industry. Established in 1997, we make 6 distinct models and 10 different models overall. Originally based in Los Angeles, we were the premier brass repair shop and provided our services to everyone from Hollywood recording artists to symphony musicians and freelance players. In 2005, we moved our workshop to Las Cruces, New Mexico where we have been able to focus on horn making.
Our company was founded by Jim Patterson who was joined in 2001 by Cora Patterson. Jim’s son, Phil joined the company in 2008. He became our Production Manager in 2013 after earning a degree in Music Business from New Mexico State University. We also have 2-part time workers, Luis and Ian. Their contributions are essential in helping us keep our production schedule.
We use only the finest materials and assemble them with great care to make the best horns available. Attention to the smallest detail ensures consistently outstanding instruments. We never compromise our process. Each instrument is built to the highest standards possible.
Jim Patterson, owner and creative force behind Patterson Hornworks, started his business in Los Angeles in 1997. It was in the early 90’s that he began to build his business as a leading brass technician. Since then Jim has designed numerous mouthpieces, modifications, and horns and has built more than 200 Patterson custom horns since 2001.
Cora Patterson performs regularly with the Roswell Symphony and the Las Cruces New Horizons orchestra. She occasionally plays substitute horn with the El Paso Symphony. She joined her husband Jim full time in the horn business in 2001.
