Patterson Descant

The word on the street is that this is best descant available. We have taken a proven design and turned it into a well-balanced and lovely sounding instrument. It is at home in the Symphony Orchestra and Hollywood Studios, yet delicate enough for use in chamber music ensembles, powerful enough for a brass quintet, while subtle enough for Bach. Oh, and if we leave off the stopping valve, it’s dynamite for jazz.

The instrument was first built especially for playing “Last Autumn,” a duet for Horn and Cello written by Michael Hersch. Last Autumn is a landmark piece, over two hours long, demanding the highest virtuosity from the performers. Here is a link to information about Last Autumn.
